Diagnosis & treatment

Find your clinic

If you have symptoms, or a partner has told you they have an infection, we can examine you, test you and give you treatment. Care is free and confidential.

Introduction

Most sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are easy to treat, and the sooner they are treated, the better. Some STIs have no symptoms at all, so a regular test is also a good idea.

Symptoms to get checked

Book an appointment if you notice any of these symptoms.

  • Unusual discharge from the vagina, penis or anus
  • Pain or burning when you pass urine
  • Lumps, blisters, sores or warts around the genitals or anus
  • Itching or a rash around the genitals
  • Bleeding after sex or between periods

If a partner has an infection

Come and see us if a sexual partner has been diagnosed with an STI, even if you feel well. We may give you treatment at the same visit.

Results and treatment

Most results are sent to you by text message. If you need treatment, we explain how to take it and when to come back.

Do not have sex until you and your partners have finished treatment.

Telling your partners

Our health advisers can help you tell your partners. If you prefer, they can contact your partners for you without using your name.
